Reflections – Returning To Balance And True Happiness

I have been very out of balance for around 6 weeks. There has been a plethora of highly emotional events starting with the excitement of speaking at the Healthy Life Expo (but at the same time injuring my back hauling my heavy keyboard in and out of my house). (Former house….killer spit entry!) Multiple family concerns, including saying goodbye to my son as he left for a year of life and work in Japan, have drained my energy. On top of all this, I moved and re-injured my back during the process. Then there was the trip to Phoenix and the root canal. (Shall I continue?) Talk about being shell shocked!!

Trying to regain my balance this week, I remembered my favorite article by Deepak Chopra and pulled it out to read again. In his article, “The Key To Lasting Happiness”, Dr. Chopra talks about ego vs. source. We build our self image (ego) over time. “It is the mask behind which you hide, but it is not the real you. And because it is not the real you, but a fraud, it lives in fear. It wants approval. It needs to control. And it follows you wherever you go.” “And how do you break free from captivity? You break free by choosing to identify with your inner self, the real you.”

So, what is this “inner self, the real you?” Without quoting the entire article, I will take the liberty to condense. Your inner self is the part of you that doesn’t judge, doesn’t react and finds joy in just being alive and in the moment. It is that part of you where happiness doesn’t depend on other things or other people. Dr. Chopra writes, (….inner joy is independent of the situation, circumstances, people, or things. When you experience inner joy, you are happy for no reason. Just to be alive to gaze at stars, to experience the beauty of this world, to be experientially alive in the miracle of life itself is your happiness.”

I have been faithful at journaling for many years. As I read this wonderful article, I remembered a recent expression that came purely from my inner self on a beautiful sunny morning. On February 14th I wrote, “The sun is caressing my left shoulder, reminding me that love holds me gently as I unfold and open. As the music of wholeness and authenticity swirls up and around me, my ego falls away and becomes a distant shadow of what it used to be. Brightness of Light from my Core of Spirit attracts more and more light from the Universe. My purpose is intensely joyful and clear: I am Love! I am Generosity! I am Creativity! I am Partnership! I am Change! I am Recognition! I am Service! I am at one with God! Joy to the world, all is very, very well!

I wish all of you a lovely connection to your beautiful source… your true, inner self which is just so beautiful and bright!

Namaste!
