  1. This really surprised me. Shocked me, too. After being in business 130 years, I guess I thought they'd never close. I'm a native New Yorker (Brooklyn; several generations) and I've been going to this location 30 years, only a couple of years after they first opened at this spot. I know Danny, and Debbie was a friend of mine for almost 30 years. I can't count all the various things I've bought from J. Levine's over the last 3 decades. Too bad. Definitely the end of an era.
