Sketchbook pop up shop workshop and talk

Sketchbook pop up shop workshop and talk

Sketchbook magazine focuses on fashion, arts and illustration. Members of Sketchbook set up a pop up shop for 3 weeks in a beatiful shop space 10 Newburgh Street off Carnaby Street London. In the space Sketchbook members drew on the walls, had film booths of short art films surrounded by artwork painted onto the walls.

the Craftivist Collective were asked to be part of their programme of talks, workshops and sell stuff in their shop.

We did a talk on Monday 5th April 2010 and a workshop on the following Thursday 9th April.

Plus we sold some postcards and kits in their shop

This is the type of thing we really want to be part of. We have been present at some activism events (Ctrl Alt Shift and People and Planet) but what we have always wanted to do is help politize the non-activists amongst us and have the Craftivist Collective as a stepping stone in their journey of becoming an activist. We really see our strength in the activism world as attracting new people to be the voice to the voiceless rather than just being another way activists can shout. We specificaly want to get creative people to use their skills for to make people aware of global poverty and injustices. Personally, my next goal is to get us in Vogue magazine!:)
