ANDY WARHOL EATS A BURGER KING WHOPPER (66 SCENES FROM AMERICA) | Revolver Gallery

Andy Warhol eating a Burger King whopper with Heinz Tomato Ketchup, from Danish filmmaker Jorgen Leth. The scene appears in his art movie “66 Scenes from America,” which was filmed in 1981.

“What’s great about this country is that America started the tradition where the richest consumers buy essentially the same things as the poorest. You can be watching TV and see Coca-Cola, and you know that the President drinks Coke, Liz Taylor drinks Coke, and just think, you can drink Coke, too. A Coke is a Coke and no amount of money can get you a better Coke than the one the bum on the corner is drinking. All the Cokes are the same and all the Cokes are good. Liz Taylor knows it, the President knows it, the bum knows it, and you know it. ” – Andy Warhol

MARY WORONOV’S SCREEN TEST BY ANDY WARHOL | Revolver Gallery

Between 1964 to 1966, Andy Warhol shot over 500 silent, slow-motion films on 16mm black-and-white portraits depicting the lives of popular individuals who frequented the factory, including Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Rufus Collins, Edie Sedgwick, Allen Ginsberg and Nico. Warhol’s films were motivated by his fascination with individuals and his desire to capture the actual experience of living.

Mary Woronov is an American actress, and is known as a “cult star” because of the work she did with Andy Warhol. Seemingly, Woronov was one of Warhol’s favorite superstars, as he features her in Chelsea Girls and as a whip-dancer during Velvet Underground shows. With light only shedding on half of her face, she remains calm and stern as she stares into the camera, until the very end, where she sheds a slight smile.

Andy Warhol, Screen Test: Mary Woronov, 1966, 16mm film, black and white, silent, 4 minutes at 16 frames per second.

Andy Warhol – Empire

www.channelbeta.net ////////
The Empire State Building filmed for 8 consecutive hours from dusk till dawn of the following day, shot on the night of the 25th of June 1964 from the 44th floor of the Time Life Building. «Empire» is an object-trouvé, a ready-made that prefigured todays webcam images. It can also be considered a ‹structural film›: the obsessive repetition of the same image triggers our focus on the act of looking, on the value of the frame and most of all on the film duration. Time of reality and time of cinema are the same.
